MUSCAT : During its fifth session of the first session of the eighth term, the State Council, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, focused on the “draft media law” following its referral by the Council of Ministers under Article 49 of the Oman Council Law. His Excellency emphasized the Council’s commitment to enhancing its operations and fulfilling its responsibilities with dedication, acknowledging the significant contributions of the honoured members and the support provided by the General Secretariat.

The Social and Cultural Committee highlighted that the “draft media law” aims to adapt to the evolving landscape of media activities, ensuring alignment with technological advancements and current practices. The session featured a detailed summary of the proposed media law, including key amendments introduced during the committee’s review.
The comprehensive session saw active participation from the honourable members and His Excellency the Secretary-General.
