Muscat – Check the following guidelines from the hospital to cope with the summer heat:
- Vehicle safety:
• Be cautious when leaving your car parked at work in the heat. Leaving the windows open slightly can help with ventilation and reduce trapped heat inside the vehicle. This can also protect you from inhaling harmful fumes caused by a thermal reaction within the car.
• If your parking spot is far from your workplace entrance, consider using an umbrella for shade while walking.
• Using a windshield reflector to protect the car’s interior from direct sunlight is also recommended. - General tips:
• Increase your water and fluid intake. To determine your daily water needs, multiply your weight by 30 ml.
• Protect your eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses.
• Apply sunscreen with a suitable SPF to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
• Opt for light-colored clothing to help your body absorb less heat.
The advisory also encourages people to stay active during the summer, but stresses the importance of choosing indoor locations or exercising during cooler times of the day.
Khoula Hospital emphasizes the importance of these precautions to ensure you remain in good health and wellness throughout the summer season.
