Muscat Governorate announces 60% completion of Al Jood street project in Amerat

Ongoing work on Al Jood street project in Amerat has reached 59.93 percent completion rate, stated a notice from Muscat Governorate.

MUSCAT : The project aims to establish a link road between Al Amerat Street and Al Joud Street in the first stage and add an entry to Al Jood Street in Amerat Wilayat.

The project is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the current entrance near Al Mahj intersection, as the new entry to be implemented on Al Amerat Street will lead to a pathway, near Oman Cricket Academy and connect it to Al Ihsan Roundabout.

The project components include construction of a dual carriageway that is 630-metre long and dualization of the existing road (790 metres long) to make the total length of the road to 1,042 metres.
It will create acceleration and deceleration lanes on the existing dual roadway (Al Amerat roadway) that is 1010 metres long, construct service road (900 metres), a new roundabout and culverts to drain rainwater and valleys in the project area in five locations.

It will also feature construction of a retaining wall (115 meters), a protection wall for valleys (750 metres). The cross-section of the dual carriageway consists of (3652 metres), outer shoulders with a width of 1.5 metres, inner shoulders with a width of 1.2 metres, and a central island (2.6 metres).

The project also includes traffic safety requirements according to a modern design guide that includes protection, lighting, and guidance regulation boards.
