MUSCAT: The Omani Lawyers Association (OLA) through the Fak Kurba initiative managed to release a total of 1,219 people who were imprisoned for failing to meet financial obligations.
Launched during the holy month of Ramadan, the initiative aimed to raise financial donations to help people who are imprisoned due to claims in civil, commercial, legitimate or labour cases.
From the total 1,219 detainees released, North Al Batinah topped with 261 cases, followed by Muscat Governorate with 202 cases. The total number of cases released over the last 11 years reached 7113.
