Muscat: Humaid bin Saif Al Barhi, Assistant Director General of the Al Dhahirah Municipality in Al Nadab, elaborated on the significance of Food Safety Week as a tangible manifestation of the municipality’s ongoing efforts in ensuring food safety and quality. With a primary focus on safeguarding consumer health and safety, the municipality is dedicated to producing high-quality food products that adhere to stringent standards and specifications.

Al Barhi stressed the need to enhance awareness across various societal groups and foster community partnerships. This involves hosting a spectrum of events, programs, and activities to elevate food awareness levels and acquainting the public with relevant laws, legislation, and regulations governing food safety.

The comprehensive Food Safety Week program encompasses various activities across the governorate’s different regions. These include workshops to launch health inspector portfolios, awareness programs tailored for commercial establishments specializing in risk assessment and food crisis management, mobile exhibitions highlighting health requirements, educational lectures for school students, and joint health inspection campaigns at food stores, factories, and municipal slaughterhouses.

Additionally, the initiative features interactive awareness events, cultural competitions, public meetings in shopping centres, the distribution of informative brochures, leaflets, and publications targeting various demographics, and the use of social media platforms to disseminate crucial messages related to food safety.
