KUWAIT: The Court of Cassation in Kuwait has finalized sentences for individuals implicated in a bribery scandal involving the unlawful issuance of driving licences to expatriates. Eight expatriates and a police officer holding the rank of colonel were found guilty of accepting bribes and violating their official duties.
The court sentenced each of the eight expatriates to four years in prison and ordered their deportation upon completing their terms. Additionally, the police officer received a similar sentence of four years in prison.
Earlier, a lower court hearing the same case sentenced the officer to eight years and the eight expats to jail terms ranging from six to four years.
