MUSCAT : The recent adverse weather conditions in North Al Batinah Governorate have caused significant damage to infrastructure and livelihood, impacting roadways, power lines, and communication networks.

Additionally, agricultural and residential areas have suffered substantial losses due to overflowing valleys.
In response to this crisis, government entities, private sector organizations, civil groups, and community volunteers across North Al Batinah Governorate and other regions of the Sultanate of Oman have joined together to provide assistance and support to those affected.

Government officials from various institutions have been conducting visits to the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage caused by heavy rains and flooding. Among the officials who visited the region are H.E. Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, the Speaker of the Shura Council. They engaged with citizens to gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by the community.

H.E. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, expressed confidence in the collective efforts being made to restore normalcy to the region. He highlighted the significant damage to property and infrastructure across various wilayats but assured that concerted efforts are underway to address these impacts and restore essential services.

Efforts led by the North Batinah Municipality have focused on road clearance, silt and debris removal, and drainage operations to facilitate traffic movement and ensure the safety of road users. These efforts have led to the reopening of public roads and several internal and mountainous routes that were previously impassable.

In addition, the solidarity of sports and cultural clubs, civil and charitable organizations, and volunteers from the local community has been instrumental in providing aid to affected families. These groups have distributed essential supplies such as food, water, and cleaning tools while actively participating in cleaning efforts at mosques and homes.

The combined efforts of government agencies, volunteers, and community organizations reflect the resilience and unity of the Omani people in times of crisis, demonstrating a commitment to supporting those in need and rebuilding affected areas.
