MUSCAT : Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed bin Salam Al Hashami, the official spokesman for the Joint Media Center at the National Center for Emergency Management, provided an update on the ongoing response to the weather crisis.

He explained that the center has received numerous reports since morning, including the detention of 50 individuals in Mahut Wilayat. The Royal Air Force of Oman swiftly mobilized a plane to transport them to safety, ensuring they have essential supplies.

Furthermore, a shelter center was activated in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate to accommodate five families, with additional centers prepared across various governorates. Al Hashami emphasized that the center has handled 78 reports thus far, predominantly concentrated in North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and South Al Batinah governorates.

However, three citizens, including a school student, remain missing, prompting continued search efforts.
Reports of service interruptions, particularly in telecommunications, have also surfaced, with 47 communication stations affected. The majority, 43, are situated in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. Additionally, road network outages have been reported in North and South Al Sharqiyah, and Al Dakhiliyah governorates, affecting major routes such as Izki/Sinaw and Sinaw/Adam, along with secondary roads in various wilayats.

Efforts are underway to address these challenges, with coordination between emergency response teams and the basic services sector to restore essential services and ensure the safety and well-being of affected communities.
