Weather alert: Heavy rains to affect Oman until April 17

Oman Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning of continued heavy rainfall and the possibility of hailstones across several governorates from Sunday, April 14, to Wednesday, April 17.

MUSCAT : According to forecasts from the National Early Warning Center, areas likely to be affected include North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Musandam, and parts of the Al Wusta Governorate. Rainfall amounts may range from 30 to 120 millimeters, posing potential risks of flash floods and overflow in reefs and valleys.
Additionally, the Dhofar Governorate may experience scattered thunderstorms during this period.

The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a cautionary advisory, urging the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.

The latest satellite imagery also indicates rainfall of varying intensity and occasional thunderstorms in South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and parts of Al Wusta Governorate, persisting until further notice.
