Muscat: As temperatures rise globally, the risk of heat-related health problems rises.
To protect yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of extreme heat, here are some important tips from WHO (World Health Organization) to keep in mind:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol, caffeine, and sugary beverages, as they can contribute to dehydration.
Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing made from natural materials like cotton to help your body stay cool.
Ensure that children take breaks and rest when playing outdoors, especially during hot hours. Keep them hydrated and encourage them to seek shade when necessary.
Avoid engaging in strenuous physical activities during the hottest parts of the day. If you must be active outdoors, pace yourself, take frequent breaks, and find shaded areas to rest.
Whenever possible, schedule outdoor activities during cooler hours, such as early morning or late evening. Avoid going outside during the peak heat hours.
