Muscat – Dr. Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al Zadjali, supervisor of the Fak Kurba Initiative, revealed that the eleventh edition aims to address 1,500 cases by the end of May this year.

Explaining the criteria for prioritizing cases, Dr. Al Zadjali stated that preference is given to resolving smaller claims before larger ones. Additionally, older cases are addressed before newer ones. Notably, only cases meeting specific conditions are considered by the Judicial Administrative Affairs Council (General Administration of Implementation), and individual applications are not accepted.

Dr. Al Zadjali outlined the eligibility criteria for cases targeted by the initiative, including that the debtor must be imprisoned or subject to a detention order, should not have benefitted from the initiative in previous versions, and that the debt must be related to non-criminal matters such as commercial, civil, labor, or legal cases. Furthermore, the claim amount should not exceed RO 2,000, and the total number of claims against one insolvent individual must not exceed this limit.

Since its inception in 2012, the FAk Kurba initiative has facilitated the release of over 7,000 cases, marking a significant contribution to justice and social welfare in Oman.
