Muscat – The total amount of livestock exported till the end of 2023 stood at 3,363,443 kilogrammes, compared to 2,594,211 kilogrammes by the end of 2022, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Camels topped the list of livestock exports to the tune of RO 1,829,913, followed by mixed breed goats (RO 715,543), purebred goats (RO 147,350), lamb (RO 128,554) and cattle (RO 105,426).

Statistics showed that the United Arab Emirates imported the largest volume of livestock from Oman (to the tune of RO 2,257,710), followed by Yemen (RO RO 454,311), Saudi Arabia (RO 353,198), Qatar (RO 85,849) and Iran (RO 17,100).

Statistics indicate that the value of livestock re-exports grew by 97 percent by the end of 2023 to RO 92,335,550 against a total weight of 51,628,948 kilogrammes.
