MUSCAT : H.E. Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, convened a meeting this morning with H.E. Dr. Rola Dashti, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA, as part of the program of the current visit of the ESCWA delegation to the Sultanate of Oman.

The discussions centered on several key initiatives aimed at enhancing economic assessment and planning capabilities within Oman.

As per a statement issued by the Ministry, the two entities are set to collaborate on providing technical support for the Governorate Development Index project. ESCWA experts will join the national technical team to contribute to the preparation of indicators and evaluation platforms, ensuring the quality and efficacy of the project’s implementation at each stage.

The Ministry and the ESCWA will undertake a project to evaluate the progress achieved during the mid-point of the tenth five-year development plan (2021-2025). This assessment will involve analyzing and documenting results and impacts in alignment with the plan’s objectives, strategic programs, and expected outcomes. The findings will inform future strategic direction and preparations for the subsequent five-year plan (2026-2030).

The two parties will also collaborate on building various economic models, including the computable general equilibrium model and a national version of the interface for simulating trade policies and global economic shocks.
