MUSCAT : At the close of February 2024, the combined revenues of (3-5) star hotels in Oman reached a notable RO 281 million 644 thousand. This figure reflects a robust performance in the sector, driven by a substantial increase in guests. A total of two million 505 thousand and 25 guests were accommodated during this period, marking a diverse mix of visitors from various regions.

Citizens emerged as the most prominent demographic among hotel guests, with 911.1 thousand citizens choosing these establishments for their accommodations. Following closely were European guests at 670.7 thousand, Asians at 351.8 thousand, Gulf guests at 224 thousand, Arab guests at 111.7 thousand, and American guests at 72.5 thousand.

Comparing the performance of (3-5) star hotels between January and February 2024 and the same period in 2023 reveals a significant growth trajectory. Revenues during the initial two months of 2024 reached RO 52.3 million, showcasing an impressive 18% increase from the previous year’s figure of RO 44.4 million. Likewise, the number of guests surged by 18.2%, reaching 433.8 thousand, compared to 366.9 thousand in 2023. These figures paint a promising picture for the future of the sector.

European guests dominated the hotel stays during January and February 2024, comprising 153.4 thousand total guests. This was followed by Omani citizens at 141.3 thousand, Asians at 54.5 thousand, Gulf guests at 25.6 thousand, and Arab guests at 18.4 thousand.

The sequential increase in guest numbers from previous months further highlights the upward trend in hotel occupancy and revenue. In December 2023, hotels welcomed 213.4 thousand guests, 222.6 thousand in November, 189.2 thousand in October, and 153.2 thousand in September.
