MUSCAT : Further to Public Prosecution’s cautionary notice against begging and use of minors for begging purposes, the Governorate of Muscat has released a series of online posters to discourage the practice.
Begging in mosques, roads, stores, and public areas is deemed unacceptable by the society and is strictly prohibited under Omani law. Begging has been criminalized in the Penal Code promulgated by Royal Decree No. 7/2018.
