Nama Water Services, SQU ink agreement to enhance innovation and scientific research

Nama Water Services and Sultan Qaboos University have entered into a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration in the fields of innovation and scientific research.

MUSCAT : The agreement, which underscores a shared commitment to innovation and knowledge exchange, seeks to elevate efforts in research and development while nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship.

Key objectives of the cooperation agreement include encouraging and facilitating cooperation in innovation, scientific research, and development. Through this partnership, both entities aim to exchange studies, research findings, skills, and experiences to enrich their respective fields.

The agreement delineates several areas of collaboration, including:

  • Encouraging and supporting students and academic staff to conduct research in the field of water and sanitation and participate in programs
  • Develop innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Support research projects
  • Boost the ‘Nama Award for Water Services’, aimed at recognizing and rewarding the best research projects in the field of water and digital transformation
  • Annual support for research and studies in the treated water sector
  • Support student training opportunities and sponsor an annual scholarship, the ‘Nama Scholarship for Water Services,’ for postgraduate students
  • Implement an innovation hackathons focusing on digital transformation, water, and environmental sustainability.
