MUSCAT : The campaign aims to eradicate breeding hotspots and mitigate the spread of pests, particularly mosquitoes, in the region.

Focused on targeting swamps and ponds, which are prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes, the campaign highlights the importance of intensifying pest control efforts in affected areas. Employing advanced techniques such as cold fogging instead of thermal smoke, the municipality seeks to enhance the efficacy of spraying operations while minimizing environmental impact.

As part of the program, Muscat Municipality has developed an electronic map to facilitate monitoring and treatment of ponds and swamps across the governorate. This initiative aims to streamline the identification of breeding sites and ensure a systematic approach to pest control, particularly in areas prone to water accumulation after rainfall.

Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the pest control teams during their operations and to avoid direct exposure to spray machines. Additionally, if the control teams need to enter households for treatment, residents are advised to adhere to the following instructions:

• Evacuate the premises during the spraying process.
• Cover food and furnishings to prevent contamination.
• Keep the premises closed for 15 minutes post-spraying.
• Ventilate the premises for an additional 15 minutes after completion of the treatment.
• Conduct a thorough cleaning of the premises following the procedure.
