Muscat: In a statement issued on World Meteorological Day, the Civil Aviation Authority emphasized its critical role in environmental stewardship.
Under the banner of “At the forefront of climate action,” the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman is reaffirming its commitment to combatting climate change. The theme reflects a broader initiative to take immediate and decisive steps towards mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, embracing clean and sustainable technologies, enhancing political and societal awareness, developing robust environmental policies, promoting innovation in renewable energy, optimizing resource utilization efficiency, and bolstering investments to tackle the escalating climate crisis.
Since joining the World Meteorological Organization in 1975, Oman has supported international cooperation in meteorological advancements.

The Sultanate’s collaborations include joining the Tropical Cyclone Committee in 1997, enhancing numerical forecasting systems in partnership with the German Meteorological Center in 1999, and establishing the Center of Excellence for satellite applications in meteorology for West Asian countries in 2006.
In 2015, Oman took a significant step forward by launching the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards, further fortifying its disaster preparedness and risk mitigation capabilities.
