Muscat: The critical need arises due to an emergency liver transplant requiring 5 platelet donors immediately.

Platelet donation, a specialized form of blood donation that involves separating blood cells using a specialized device, requires donors to meet specific criteria. Prospective donors must weigh over 50 kg, have normal haemoglobin levels, be aged between 18 and 60, have donated blood at least twice in the past two years without complications, and refrain from taking aspirin or similar medications within the last 10 days.

The timing for platelet donations is between 8 AM and 6 PM from Saturday to Thursday and from 8 AM to 1 PM on Fridays.

The Central Blood Bank requires 10 platelet donors daily to meet the demand for various medical procedures. Individuals willing to donate platelets or seeking more information can contact 94555648 to schedule an appointment or make inquiries.
