MUSCAT: Nine private laboratories in Oman have been booked for violation, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion informed on Thursday.

The Ministry said violations have been found for registering testing and calibration in these areas: cosmetics, food, water, building materials, petroleum derivatives and calibration. The Ministry noticed that some private laboratories may have exceeded their capabilities, “which could impact the quality of their work and the reports they produce, thus negatively affecting consumer health and safety.”

However, the Ministry did not disclose the identity of these labs that violated the regulations.

“It is important that laboratories must comply with the provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. 2011/59 regarding the registration of testing and calibration laboratories, in order to avoid legal actions against them,” the Ministry said.
