Titans triumph spectacularly: BHT Premier League Season 1 excites cricket fans in Oman

The BHT Premier League's debut, organized by BHT Sports Club on March 8, 2024, from 2 PM onwards at Salam Grass Ground, Seeb featured a thrilling exhibition of cricket skills, concluding with a gripping final match.

MUSCAT: In the league, 10 franchises participated: Caterpillar, Titans, UPC, Barka Riders, Ruwi Smashers, Hala Cosmos Thalassery, Oman Pumps, Team 8, Arab Stars, and Desert XI.

Each franchise selected its players through a point-based auction on February 22, 2024, at Nisarka Restaurant in Al Khuwair.

After losing the toss in the final, UPC, who batted first, scored 64 runs with Nadeer’s batting excellence of 26(6) for the loss of 8 wickets in the specified over. Titans, who were batting in response, achieved the target with the loss of 8 wickets with one ball remaining due to the batting excellence of Gokul (17 runs) and Shyamlal (16 runs).

The teams that advanced to the Semi-Finals were Barka Riders, UPC, Titans, and Ruwi Smashers. Each team showcased commendable performances, and spectators eagerly awaited the match’s outcomes. Titans triumphed over Barka Riders by 9 wickets in the first semi-final, while UPC secured a spot in the Final by defeating Ruwi Smashers by 51 runs in the second semi-final.

Suneesh, Vishnu, and other members organized cultural programs, games, and quiz competitions for families during the matches. BHT Sports Club awarded prizes to the winners, bringing joy to families and spectators.

In the final, Gokul from Titans was the man of the match, Altaf from Ruwi Smashers was the best bowler, Afzal from UPC was the best batter, and Sheriff Parakodan from UPC was awarded the best player of the tournament.

Saleh Hariz Khuwar, the Chairman of BHT, presented the Winner Trophy and cash prize to Titans, while Haiman Al Balushi and Rafeeck Vazhayil awarded the Runner-up trophy and cash prize to UPC. Junaid and Shamnad, BHT sports club board members, handed out the 3rd and 4th place prizes to Ruwi Smashers and Barka Riders.

Players and spectators alike were confident that the BHT Premier League, due to its innovation and presentation, would become one of the best premier leagues in Oman’s cricket history.

Junaid and Shamnad, who serve as board members of BHT Sports Club, announced plans to expand the tournament by incorporating additional teams and similar surprises with betterment. Meanwhile, BHT Core Committee members Zainul Abid, Kiran, Siyad, Gokul, and Meeraj have been crucial in steering BHT Sports Club towards a successful and historic journey.

Adding to all these aspects, Shinaz’s commentary, which was approved by the Kerala Tennis Cricket Association (KTCA), touched the hearts of the audience and brought more vibrancy to the tournament.
