NEW YORK: Led by Her Excellency Dr Laila bint Ahmed bin Awadh Al Najar, Minister of Social Development, the delegation is actively participating in discussions and highlighting the Sultanate’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
Her Excellency Dr. Al-Najjar addressed a side event titled “Breaking Restrictions: Women in Gaza’s Pursuit of Life,” outlining Oman’s efforts for women’s rights. She emphasized the nation’s social protection, economic participation, and education progress.
The Minister highlighted Oman’s dedication to ensuring women’s rights and providing opportunities across various fields. Oman’s legislative framework, including the Basic and Social Protection Law, guarantees equality and offers support programs for needy women.

Her Excellency Dr. Al-Najjar pointed out that women’s economic participation in Oman steadily increases. The percentage of Omani women in leadership positions has reached 37%, and female entrepreneurship is flourishing.
Oman’s commitment to women’s education was also addressed. Interestingly, females outpaced males in choosing scientific fields, indicating a promising future for Omani women in STEM careers.
Her Excellency Dr Al-Najjar reiterated Oman’s unwavering support for women’s development. The Sultanate remains dedicated to empowering women and ensuring their active participation in all facets of life.
This session also witnessed Her Excellency delivering the Arab statement on behalf of the region. This leadership role underlines Oman’s active participation in international efforts promoting gender equality.
