Muscat: According to the latest forecasts and analyses, Friday will see scattered rainfall across the nation. However, the intensity is expected to ramp up significantly on Saturday, affecting several governorates, including Musandam, Al Buraimi, and Muscat. This heightened rainfall poses a risk of flash flooding in valleys and watercourses, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and preparedness among residents.

In addition to the heavy rainfall, strong downdraft winds ranging from 15 to 50 kilometres per hour are anticipated. This could lead to the dispersion of loose materials, potentially impacting infrastructure and surroundings. Moreover, intense hailfall is a concern, with the potential to cause damage to properties and vehicles.

As if the inland conditions weren’t challenging, rough sea conditions are also expected along most coastlines, with waves reaching 2.0 to 4.0 meters. This raises concerns for maritime activities and coastal areas, necessitating caution and adherence to safety guidelines.

In response to these anticipated weather conditions, the Civil Aviation Authority has issued advisory notices urging all residents and travellers to exercise caution and take necessary precautions, especially during rainfall and potential flash flooding.
