MUSCAT: Oman is expected to experience severe weather conditions from Friday evening until Saturday, with heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and hailstones across most parts of the country.
In a fourth alert issued by the Civil Aviation Authority stated that the intensity will increase on Saturday, March 9 on the governorates of Musandam, Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and parts of Al Wusta. “Rainfall in these areas will from 30-150 mm, with flooding of wadis. “Rainfall amounts ranging from 30-150 mm are anticipated, leading to flash flooding and wadis,” CAA informed.
“The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during thundershower rain, and not to cross Wadis (Flash Flood) and avoid low lying areas and not to sail during alert period,” the statement added.

- Heavy thundershowers with hail are expected ranging (30 – 150 mm) may cause flash floods (Wadis).
- Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging 15 – 50 knots (28 – 90 km/h).
- Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2 – 3.5 meters).
- Reduction in horizontal visibility during thundershowers.
