Muscat: During the media meeting, Her Excellency Laila bint Ahmed bin Awadh Al Najar, Minister of Social Development, presented comprehensive insights into the Ministry’s endeavours throughout the past year.
Highlighting the substantial progress made, Her Excellency disclosed that the total number of social security cases by the end of 2023 amounted to an impressive 79,597, with a staggering RO 122,178,206 million disbursed to support these cases.
Additionally, the Ministry extended assistance to 82,215 Social Security and limited-income cases, providing relief, cash, in-kind, temporary, emergency, special, disaster, and calamity assistance, totalling RO 7,897,480 million in financial disbursements.

Furthermore, Her Excellency emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing opportunities for empowerment and self-sufficiency. Notably, 3,440 cases benefited from financing opportunities, technical and vocational training, and employment training programs.
