MUSCAT : Her Excellency highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to social care and protection, support for persons with disabilities, family and community development, civil volunteer work, and fostering partnerships and social responsibility.

Among the key statistics shared, Her Excellency revealed that the Ministry provided assistance to 82,215 social security cases and low-income individuals, amounting to RO 4,982,820 in support for various programs and activities. Notably, 52,455 persons with disabilities were registered, with significant strides made in areas such as autism rehabilitation and the provision of prosthetic devices and supportive services, benefiting 7,897 individuals.
Looking ahead, Her Excellency unveiled ambitious plans for 2024, including launching the “Tasmu” initiative to empower women in supervisory roles across government, private sectors, and civil society. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards organizing volunteer work in Oman through the Omani platform for volunteers and establishing the Department of Voluntary Work and Social Development Committees.

Addressing family development and empowerment, Her Excellency announced the successful facilitation of 42 home projects in 2023, supported by the “Family Development and Empowerment” initiative, with additional initiatives such as the “Makasab” electronic platform and local marketing outlets for productive families.
In the realm of combating social issues, the Ministry executed 2,202 campaigns to combat begging, resulting in the apprehension of 156 cases. It also launched media campaigns targeting the reduction of bullying among children and violence against women.
Highlighting projects supported by Social Responsibility, Her Excellency outlined initiatives such as the Cadre program, Stabilization Program, scholarships, and infrastructure development projects benefiting various segments of society.
