MUSCAT: Tariq Al Barwani, who founded Knowledge Oman in 2008 will return to lead the community-knowledge sharing platform with a new mission starting April 2024. The announcement comes as part of Knowledge Oman’s preparation to celebrate 16th year anniversary.
Tariq, who served the platform from the inception in 2008 as its President until 2018, was succeeded by different local and expat member of society whom were appointed every two years consecutively to lead the platform as part of Knowledge Oman’s strategy to support community leadership development.
“Our mission initially was to connect the community with Knowledge. Over the past 15 years, we managed successfully through a pool of 700 volunteers to initiate 74 projects along with 35 partners that attracted thousands of attendees from over 45 impacted institutions. Our next mission is to primarily focus on empowering the youth with the necessary skills required to develop our economy” said Tariq, Knowledge Oman Founder.
Over the past 25 years, Tariq has delivered over 100 motivational keynote sessions to reputed organizations, received 29 local and international awards for projects undertaken, served as an academic board of trustee of Muscat College, and continues to invest time for supporting youth development. Today, Tariq serves as an ICT advisor to Nortal, member of the board director of Muscat Finance, and provides media and technology consultancy services for organizations.
Knowledge Oman received multiple awards since its inception in 2008 that includes the ‘Best Community Leadership’ in 2022, International Standard Web Technology Award 2009, Brand Leadership Award in 2010, Outstanding contribution to the cause of education in 2012 and the Golden Strategic Award for Culture in 2013. Knowledge Oman will be announcing new direction and projects as part of its 16 years anniversary celebration in April 2024.
