MUSCAT : This tournament marks a significant milestone with a total prize money of RO 8000. anticipated tennis tournament organized by the Oman Tennis Federation has witnessed a record participation of more than 130 talented players, encouraging upcoming tennis talent in Oman.

With its commencement yesterday, the event has set the stage for us to witness skill, dedication & sportsmanship. The championship is being held at the esteemed Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

The resurgence of the Oman Open Tennis Championship offers many categories to cater to players of varying skill levels and demographics. From men’s and women’s singles to mixed doubles, as well as competitions for seasoned competitors aged over 40 and 50, the event provides a comprehensive platform for tennis enthusiasts to showcase their talent.

Scheduled to run until the 3rd of next month, the tournament unfolds daily, commencing in the evening and culminating at ten o’clock. The players were distributed after the draw for the tournament, which was held by the general referee, Kartik, and his assistant, Mohammad bin Rashid Al Falahi, who was entrusted with a new task in managing such tournaments.

Featuring an array of gripping matches across multiple courts, the tournament’s inaugural day witnessed sixteen riveting encounters, including notable victories by players such as Richard and Nilesh in the fiercely contested under-14 boys’ category.

The opening day of the tournament featured sixteen intense matches, producing captivating results:

In the under-14 boys’ competition, Richard secured a hard-fought victory over Advay with a score of 4/6, 6/4, and 10-5 in the tiebreaker.

Similarly, in the same category, Nilesh emerged victorious against Arnai with a scoreline of 7/6 and 6/3.

Saad Al-Sulaimani triumphed over Nasser Yousef with a score of 6/4 and 6/3.

Rajvan demonstrated dominance over Arindam with a commanding score of 6/2 and 6/0.

The remaining matches witnessed competitive exchanges and spirited performances, though specific details of those outcomes are yet to be provided.

Munther Al Barwani, Secretary of the Omani Tennis Federation, expressed profound enthusiasm for the championship’s revival, highlighting its significance in fostering camaraderie among players of all ages and backgrounds.
