MUSCAT : Sponsored by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and in collaboration with various governmental and private entities, the marathon spanned three days, attracting over 700 participants from across the globe.

The gruelling 165-kilometre marathon, divided into four stages, tested the runners’ mettle in the vast sands of Sharqiya. Rachid Al-Murabti, demonstrating exceptional prowess, claimed the top spot in the men’s category.

Completing the four stages in a remarkable sixteen hours, six minutes, and forty-nine seconds, he outpaced Omani runner Saleh Al-Saidi, who secured second place with a time of sixteen hours, twenty-seven minutes, and twenty-seven seconds. Ghaith Al Saeedi, another Omani contender, earned third place, completing the marathon in seventeen hours, twenty-three minutes, and six seconds.

In the women’s category, Moroccan runner Aziza Al-Raji showcased outstanding resilience, clinching the first position for twenty-three hours, thirteen minutes, and thirty-two seconds. Aziza Al-Omrani, also from Morocco, secured the second spot, covering the marathon in twenty-three hours, forty minutes, and fifteen seconds. French runner Voronko Messina claimed third place, finishing in twenty-five hours, thirty-eight minutes, and fifty-three seconds.
