MUSCAT : Nama Water Services has initiated a groundbreaking venture to establish extensive water networks across select areas in Rustaq, signalling a substantial investment of over two million OMR. The project, currently underway in Al-Iraqi, Al-Sarh neighbourhood, Al-Dahas, and the industrial area of Rustaq, has reached a completion rate of 12% within the first phase of its 18-month timeline, set to conclude in March 2025.

This ambitious endeavour encompasses constructing distribution networks spanning approximately 61 kilometres, incorporating diverse diameter distribution pipes. Additionally, it involves the development of a pivotal 4-kilometre-long main distribution line, installing 100 mm fire extinguishing taps, and deploying essential network elements like isolation valves, vacuum valves, and pressure control points.

Furthermore, the project involves implementing protective measures for water network lines, ensuring reliability at valley crossings and internal road intersections. Anticipating more than 1,000 household connections and catering to over 6,500 beneficiaries, the venture aims to reinforce Rustaq’s water distribution network, aligning with Nama Water Services’ overarching strategy to enhance water supply across various regions and governorates in Oman.

The comprehensive nature of this initiative encompasses mechanical, electrical, and civil works, a pivotal step in the pursuit of holistic development. The project promises to elevate water service provision, enhancing network efficiency while extending these vital services to new beneficiaries.
