Another weekend is dawning, and you are already halfway there to reach for a cosy spot at your home. The temperatures have dropped, too, and to make your weekend a bone-chilling, thrill-seeking extravaganza, here’s a weekend binge list you didn’t know you needed.

Dhootha (Amazon Prime)

Expertly written and directed by Vikram Kumar, Dhootha is a rollercoaster ride into the heart of journalism. There were many times when the heart of this fellow journalist was stirred by the dark truths revealed through the script and the characters. Expertly shot, with convincing visuals and a dark undertone throughout the scenes, Dhootha will make you question your decisions. A compelling performance from Naga Chaitanya, a corrupt journalist, haunted by newspaper snippets that tell his future, unravelling the mysteries of politics and journalism. Haunted by his past (quite literally), Sagar Varma (played by Naga Chaitanya) is searching for the reason behind these newspaper snippets, mysteriously finding their way to him. Parvathy Thiruvothu does a great job by adorning the character of DCP Kranthi Shenoy, a brilliant cop on the hunt for a reason for the unusual suicide of a well-known journalist, who is unknowingly caught up with Sagar Varma. If you are an avid fan of the thriller genre, chances are that you will find some instances very obvious. Dhootha is an underdog that gives you another reason to be relieved that great content will always be available on OTT platforms.

Beef (Netflix)

Picture this: You are driving, and you come across a very unsettling feeling called ‘road rage’ and are riddled with intrusive thoughts that have unfortunate endings, especially for those who were the reason you experience this unsettling feeling; would you act on it? Fortunately, most of us don’t, but Beef is what happens when you do. Beef keeps you hooked on the story with an expertly woven script and brilliant performances from Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. The chemistry and chaos created by both their characters are intoxicating. This show will surely tickle your funny bone and give you a fresh perspective on life’s many riddling choices. Danny Cho (Played by Steven Yeun) becomes a perfect platform to portray the many struggles faced by immigrants who leave their homes in pursuit of a brighter future. Riddled with issues regarding anger and impatience, the show takes us on an unforgettable journey into the heart of revenge and hate, all while perfectly wrapping the story up in a bow tie of laughter and retrospection.
