MUSCAT : H.E. Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, held a meeting with the owners of real estate and commercial centers in the Qurum Commercial District, in the presence of H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality.
The meeting focused on plans to develop the District in terms of shopping and entertainment needs, as well as associated services and facilities, in a way that contributes to reviving shopping and economic vitality in the neighborhood.



The Muscat Governorate aims to restore the Qurum Commercial District to its vibrant status since its inception 1980s, when it was a popular shopping destination in the city. The plan involves rehabilitating public spaces in the neighbourhood through modern landscaping, paving, lighting, and adding new spaces that provide fresh commercial opportunities, especially for small and medium enterprises in retail trade, food, cafes, and entertainment services. The development project is expected to yield economic, social, and tourism benefits while generating job opportunities for young people.
The attendees appreciated the efforts of the government, represented by Muscat Governorate, for its valuable initiative in developing the neighbourhood, stressing their commitment and full cooperation for the success of the development project according to the visions presented, hoping that the project will achieve its desired goals.
