MUSCAT : The President and his wife were received at the historic Nizwa Fort by H.E. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and H.E. Saleh bin Dhiab Al-Rubaie, the Governor of Nizwa.
The guests were briefed about the Nizwa Fort, the history of its construction, and the archaeological and heritage landmarks and facilities it contains that highlight the nobility and glorious history of Oman.
The President toured the corridors of the castle, the fort and the heritage exhibitions, which include a collection of traditional crafts; they also witnessed the process of making traditional sweets and pottery from the people of Nizwa.

He also received some souvenirs that were presented to him by a number of children from the wilayat. He also took time to express his happiness at learning Oman’s history in the register of VIP visitors to the castle.
Earlier in the day, H.E. Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his spouse also visited Oman Across Ages Museum.
