Muscat: A specialized medical team at the National Center for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Hospital in Oman successfully conducted a rare interventional catheterization procedure on a seventy-year-old patient with complex congenital aortic valve deformities leading to severe narrowing and advanced cardiomyopathy. The patient’s condition posed challenges, making surgical treatment infeasible.

Led by Dr Hatem bin Ali Al Lawati and Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Saeedi, the intricate operation was broadcast live at the Gulf Society for Interventional and Structural Cardiac Catheterization conference in Dubai. It is considered the largest gathering for interventional and structural cardiac catheterization, in which several experts and specialists participated globally, showcasing Oman’s advanced capabilities and expertise in cardiac care at a global scale.
