Muscat: In the heart of Ibri lies Masrooq, a lesser-known treasure with a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility. Located 66 kilometers from the Ibri roundabout towards Taneem roundabout, the trip from Muscat to Masrooq is estimated to be about 360 kilometers.

Despite not enjoying the same level of popularity as Sharqiya Sands, Masrooq captivates with its breathtaking landscapes, drawing travelers into the enchanting visuals of sandy nature. Masrooq stands as a testament to the allure of Oman’s diverse terrain.

The golden sand dunes of Masrooq beckon adventure enthusiasts, providing a canvas for camping tourism and sand dune challenge trips. A safe haven, it welcomes those eager to explore its unique beauty, serene environment, and the warmth it imparts to those who choose to sleep under its starry canopy, especially on crisp winter nights, with twinkling stars for company.

Salim Al Mazrouei, a regular visitor to Masrooq sand dunes, shares his love for this place. “Get ready to witness a scene of magnificence that you cannot imagine unless you visit this place. It has become a tourist destination for families to create unforgettable moments together; it’s a haven for young visitors who love to camp out,” he states.

Offering practical advice for fellow visitors, Al Mazrouei stresses on the importance of security and safety precautions. He states: “You must take necessary precautions, especially adequate water, gasoline, communication devices, and a camera.”

He encourages visitors to enjoy the experience while being mindful of others, underlining Masrooq’s capacity to accommodate everyone. Al Mazrouei also advocates maintaining the cleanliness of the site, urging a collective effort to leave the place better than it was found.

Rashid Al-Abri, another admirer of Masrooq, highlights the distinctive features that set it apart. “What distinguishes Masrooq sands are the light sand dunes and the presence of shady trees between some of the hills, giving the place the advantage of providing natural shades that everyone who visits the place uses as camping points to relax and unwind.”

Masrooq is truly a hidden gem that is awaiting to be discovered.
