Theog, Himachal Pradesh, is the focal point of the tale. The first scene sets the tone for the entire movie, which is one of crime and violence, where a group of thugs hijack a political figure, murder their hostage family, and then flee the scene. 

Theog is the location where our protagonist and his family have made their home. In this movie, the filmmaker strove not to linger too long on the hero’s debut by only briefly revealing his face. 

The introduction of the heinous act in the opening shot gives the audience the impression that the introduction of the hero’s strength would be centered on fighting the evil people, which is distinct from many previous Vijay movies. Here, in the movie Leo, Vijay’s character Parthiban or Parthi, is introduced as an animal rescuer who has come to an active region to assist in catching a spotted hyena that was on the verge of attacking a herd of dwellers. Forest Ranger Joshy Andrews (Gautam Vasudev Menon), a close friend of Parthiban, informs him of this. Later, Parthiban takes the Hyena under his wing.

Following the character-establishing scene, the director goes on to show the nature of the family he has – a devoted and lovely wife named Sathya (Trisha), an older son named Siddharth (Mathew Thomas), and a little, darling daughter named Madhi/Chintu (Iyal) – all of who have a great deal of love and trust for one another.

In this movie, Lokesh concentrated on a subtle, gradual introduction of violence to the protagonist’s life by first turning the audience’s attention to recent crimes in the neighbourhood. It seems as though Parthiban’s life is gradually penetrated by talk of the rising crime rate before it finally makes a horrifying entrance. It’s too early to say how or why.

The movie picks up steam when the town discovers Parthiban’s enigmatic talents through forensic discoveries from the crime scene, and the bereaved family receives a swift verdict from the court. As a result, Parthiban’s images starts to circulate across India through media coverage.

Following that the entire family is caught up in a crime thriller. 

In the trailer, Sathya (Trisha) can be heard questioning, “innimein namma life ipotha iruka pokuthu?” This style of narration is not new. This, when translated literally, means “here after, is our life going to be like this?”

The plot now seems to be a common one from many other movies – a truly happy family life, a reputation as a local hero, and closeness to their kids. But a pleasant dream cafe business gets entangled in a crime, forcing the hero to intervene and take on the bad guys to protect the family.

Casting 

Vijay as Parthiban and Leo Das: As usual, Vijay is the movie’s main draw, and he certainly gives his all to live up to the high expectations placed on him. His portrayal, which ranges from a kind father to devastated moments, is certainly able to persuade the spectators for the next level.

Vijay has two distinct personas: Leo Das, a member of a magnificent gang with a hierarchy of criminals, and a salt-and-pepper role as a father of two. In general, Vijay seems to fit the persona depicted in the movie like a glove.

Trisha as Sathya: Although Trisha has always been a competent actress; but she could have done a greater job here. Maybe she did not find mothering two adults to be particularly satisfying. Mathew as Siddhu: The biggest break in Mathew’s career may have come with his Tamil debut. He is noted for doing well in films like Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal, Jo & Jo, Kumbalangi Nights, etc., making him one of the most sought-after young actors online. However, he frequently experiences a lapse in confidence; however, he did seem to do well in a few isolated scenes. Then there are other strong supporting actors like Gautam Vasudev Menon, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun sarja, Iyal, Priya,  Madonna sebastian, Babu Antony, George Maryan as Napoleon, Blue eyed psycho in Shanmugam’s gang, Janany Kunaseelan and Priya Anand  – all did a wonderful job.

Surprising Elements or Odd Discoveries: 

Trish and Mathew have established the truth of the adage that “the face is the index of the mind” in this movie. Although they frequently earn high praise for their acting, in Leo they both appear to be conscious of the roles they are playing. 

Trisha’s added sense of pride and excitement at getting the part contributes to her lackluster performance, while Mathew is highly conscious of the fact that he has been cast as Vijay’s son, which causes him to underperform in comparison to his usual performance. Their work in Leo makes this very clear.

The lack of a solid screenplay is the film’s negative aspect; all the performers follow the action because the drama is jam-packed with action and has little to do with the script. The days of employing good screenplays and language in movies are long gone. It might have been excluded on purpose, or perhaps Lokesh was so preoccupied with improving the visual effects of his universe that he overlooked the fundamentals of filmmaking.

Music: Anirudh succeeds in it once more, but with a little encouragement from Vikram’s compositions; also there are speculations that the music is not original.
