MUSCAT : Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Amal Al Raisi, a distinguished name in the world of fashion and the architect behind her eponymous clothing line, explained that her new collection is centered around the fabric ‘Subaya/Subaiya’ and its traditional weaving technique.
“Spring-Summer ’24 is basically an ode to Oman’s maritime history. I have concentrated on the fabric or weaving technique called Subaya that is well known in Oman,” said Amal, noting that it is a traditional textile, which has, however, lost its popularity over the years. “I have instilled a modern take to Subaya and incorporated it into the collection,” she added.
Amal further pointed out that the fabric was introduced to Oman long ago through its trade relations with neighboring countries.

The collection will be made available towards the end of December or the beginning of January in Amal’s boutique as well as her retailers around the region.
