Muscat: In a statement issued online, the CPA stated that it had received a complaint from a customer who bought a new vehicle from one of the auto agencies and found defects in it upon receiving the car.
He requested the auto agency to return the vehicle and redeem the amount he paid as per the provision of Article 66/2014, which states that the consumer can return the defective product or those that do not meet specifications within 15 days from the date of purchase, provided the defect is not due to poor use of the product.

CPA urges service providers to comply with the consumer protection laws and regulations, honor their contractual obligations and safeguard the rights, health and safety of consumers. Agencies are also required to ensure the safety of vehicles they are selling before sale through conducting the technical inspection to avoid defects after purchase.
