Muscat – The agreement is a part of Oman Airports’ efforts to offer best services and immediate medical care for travelers’ during emergencies.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Oman Airports, and Jacob Thomas, Chairman of KIMS Hospitals Group.

This agreement comes within Oman Airports’ plans to enhance its services at Muscat International Airport, by providing assistance to passengers in emergency medical cases, such as cases of sudden cardiac arrest, stroke, or injuries. The service will be available for arriving and departing passengers, employees of the Airport and airline crews.

The 4-year agreement also aims to deal with emergency cases in flights that are diverted to Muscat due to a medical condition on board; it will ensure that the person needing medical attention is transferred to the nearest hospital for further treatment, if necessary.
KIMS Hospitals Group will setup a clinic at the Airport, which will consist of an outpatient section at the ground floor of the passenger terminal entrance, with two first aid rooms in the departures area, and a first aid room in the arrival area.
Under the contract, a medical team consisting of 2 doctors and 6 nurses, with experience in dealing with emergency cases, will be deployed, along with three ambulances and trained Omani drivers.
It is worth noting that the capacity of the new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport currently amounts to 20 million passengers, and there are expansion plans (three phases) for the airport during the coming period, which will increase the Airport’s capacity to 56 million passengers.
Oman Airports seeks to raise the efficiency of medical services at the airport and adhere to the best international standards with the aim of providing services to passengers at the Muscat International Airport.

During the past, the medical clinic at Muscat International Airport was able to rescue a number of travelers through rapid intervention. The Airport also witnessed the first birth of an Indonesian female traveler, who was on board a Saudi Airlines flight coming from Jeddah and heading to Kuala Lumpur; it had a stopover at Muscat International Airport to complete birth procedures.
It is worth noting that Muscat International Airport was ranked among the best airports in the Middle East in the category of 15 to 25 million passengers, in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards ceremony, which is implemented by the Airports Council International in partnership with the travel technology company ‘Amadeus’.
According to statistics, the number of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport at the end of last May reached about 4,718,497, an increase of 79.5 percent.
