Oman’s Health Ministry receives UN NCD Task Force Award 2022

Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, has been granted the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases Award for its continuous efforts and commitment to multi-sectoral work through the implementation of plain packaging for tobacco products at the national level, which contributes to achieving the sustainable development goals related to controlling NCD in Oman.

The award ceremony was held virtually on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly that took place on Tuesday in New York.

Dr. Abdullah Al Harthi, Senior Consultant in Accidents and Intensive Care Surgery received the Award on behalf the Minister of Health.

This is an important addition to the series of global achievements achieved by the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman in various health fields, which highlight the extent of development it is witnessing in light of the renewed renaissance, and the great interest that the government pays to all areas of development to be in the ranks of developed countries.
