Oman’s Foreign Minister heads SDG Summit in New York

Muscat: The Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered the Sultanate of Oman’s speech at the opening of the Summit, during which he conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his appreciation for the efforts made in organizing this important summit.

His Excellency stressed that the event comes at a time when importance is placed on joint efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life in all aspects. He stated that Oman is making tangible efforts towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as it has made technology, science and digital transformation an essential part of its national strategies and legislation.

He further noted that Oman hopes to submit its second voluntary national report in 2024, which will highlight its strong commitment to achieve the set goals and continue comprehensive progress in various social, economic, scientific, environmental and renewable energy fields.

His Excellency also explained that the Sultanate of Oman’s path towards achieving sustainable development goals, as stipulated in Oman Vision 2040, reflects its strong commitment to science, technology and innovation, as well as its support towards international cooperation for transfer knowledge and technology to facilitate investment and job opportunities that ensure a safe and prosperous future for all.
