113 passengers on a Muscat-Chennai flight booked for smuggling goods worth INR 14 crores

Among the smuggled goods include 13kg of gold, iPhones, Android phones and laptops.

MUSCAT : Indian customs officials registered a case against 113 of the 186 passengers who arrived in a single flight from Muscat for colluding to smuggle gold and electronic gadgets worth INR 14 crores (OMR 646,697).

According to media reports, the smuggling gang lured passengers by offering them commission, chocolates and perfumes.

The customs officials informed that about 13kg of gold was found hidden in various forms, including biscuits, paste and springwire. As many as 120 iPhones, 84 android phones, foreign cigarettes, saffron and laptops were found hidden in suitcases and bags. “Following questioning, all 113 passengers were let off on bail,” an official added.
