Oman’s annual inflation rate reaches 0.82%

The inflation rate was driven by the increase in most of the main groups that make up the consumer price index.

MUSCAT: The annual inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 0.82 percent at the end of August 2023, according to the monthly consumer price survey data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The inflation rate was driven by the increase in most of the main groups that make up the consumer price index. The prices of the food and non-alcoholic beverages group rose by 2.9%.

The increase was due to an increase in the prices of most of the components of the group, led by fish and seafood, by 11.65%, and milk, cheese, and eggs, by 8.87%. percent, vegetables 5.5%, and oils and fats 192%, other foodstuffs by 4.07%,
sugar, jam, honey, and sweets by 3.49%, bread and cereals by 1.82%, non-alcoholic beverages by 0.93%, and fruits by 0.4%, while meat prices decreased by 1.64%.
