MUSCAT: Residents and citizens across Oman will have a public holiday by the end of September on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday.
On Friday, Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) announced that since the crescent for the month of Rabi’ Al Awwal was not sighted, Sunday will be the first day of the month of Rabi’ Al Awwal for the year 1445, corresponding to September 17, 2023.
Therefore, the date of the Prophet’s birthday will be on 12 Rabi’ Al Awwal 1445, which is considered an official holiday in the Sultanate, corresponding to Thursday, September 28, 2023.

However, the authorities are yet to announce the holiday officially.
