Oman participates in the closing session of G20 Summit

Representing His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, chaired the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman in the closing session of the 18th G20 Summit, which was held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

Muscat – His Highness delivered a speech at the closing session of the 18th G20 Summit, in which he touched on the Sultanate of Oman’s emphasis on the utmost importance of joint action and its agreement with the Indian presidency’s vision of building a ‘one future’ for human civilization, especially in light of the challenges expected to be faced in the coming years.

His Highness stated that Oman appreciates the topics discussed – focused on financing future cities – and that it shares the Indian presidency’s vision of the right of the competent authorities, especially international financing bodies, to take these endeavors into account when planning and financing infrastructure.

His Highness expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s welcome of the remarkable efforts made through many tracks that seek to define the global skills map and reduce the inherent gap between it and the requirements of the labor market. He also pointed out that digital infrastructure will play an important role in achieving sustainable economic growth, and noted that this is consistent with the endeavors of the Sultanate of Oman, which welcomes initiatives that make ways of knowledge available to all; it agrees with the countries of the group to build safe, reliable and established principles for the digital economy, he added.

His Highness explained that Oman Vision 2040 gives great importance to education, scientific research and innovation in support of the development goals of the Sultanate of Oman, and emphasizes sustainable financing for these pivotal sectors, and investment in human resources in order to build a diversified knowledge economy that keeps pace with the requirements of the times and entrepreneurship, and is able to confront and overcome challenges.

His Highness appreciated the invitation of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the 18th G20 Summit, which is an indication of the depth of relations between the two friendly countries. He congratulated the friendly Republic of India on the successful landing on the moon, which represents a major achievement and a turning point towards a promising future
His Highness also congratulated the African Union on its membership in the G20, and at the end of his speech expressed the best wishes of the Sultanate of Oman to the friendly government of Brazil on assuming the presidency of the next session of the G20 meetings.

Before holding the closing session, His Highness Sayyid Asaad and the rest of the heads of delegations visited the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in the Indian capital and placed a bouquet of flowers on the monument.

The 18th G20 summit carried the slogan ‘One Land, One Family, One Future’ and focused on the issue of sustainable development, in addition to measures to spread economic growth in a more balanced manner between developed and developing countries.

The summit discussed many important issues, including ways to promote green development, finance plans to confront the effects of climate change, the European Union Environment and Climate Action Programme, promotion of strong and sustainable economic growth, the progress that has occurred in efforts to implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan, technological transformation, digital infrastructure, and institutional efforts. International in promoting development It also focused on various topics, such as loans to developing countries, debt structuring, cryptocurrency regulation, and geopolitical tensions.
