Muscat – Apparent temperature, described as the actual feeling of temperature as a result of high humidity levels, will affect the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Muscat, leading to heat exhaustion and the possibility of heatstroke.

Explaining about the phenomenon, Met office stated: “In the summer, many wonder why the actual recorded air temperature is lower than the perceived temperature. The secret lies in the human body’s ability to adapt to the high air temperature through a self-cooling mechanism in the body through sweat that evaporates and lowers body temperature at a higher temperature compared to the real temperature recorded.
“Some global meteorological facilities have established another approximate measurement index called the sensible temperature, which is a mathematical measure that combines the temperature of the air in the shade and the relative humidity to determine the approximate temperature felt by humans. For example, the temperature is 35 degrees and the relative humidity is 70, so the sensible heat is at 51 degrees Celsius.”
