MUSCAT – In a notice issued online, the Ministry of Labour underscored Article 87 of the new Labour Law on Wages Protection System (WPS). It stated: “The employer is not exempted from wage responsibility until the worker’s pay is transferred to an account in a local bank or a financial institution licensed by the Central Bank of Oman.” It also added that the Minister would issue a directive outlining the procedures.
