Muscat: Moosa Omar was one of the most prominent Omani mixed-media artists; he was recognized locally as well as internationally for his works during a career spanning 40 years.

He was born in 1971 in the Muttrah Wilayat. Over the years he earned fame for his presentations and was acknowledged as the artist responsible for bringing fame to Omani mixed-media art. His works featured a combination of modern elements and motifs from the traditional Omani lifestyle. His style of artworks comprised cotton textiles and burlap in a continuous pattern of dyes and paints, which have won him several awards both in Oman and the world.

He has held more than 15 solo exhibitions in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt and Germany, the most important of which is the ‘Songs for the Sun’ exhibition that was organized at the Staal Art Gallery in Muscat in August 2018; he also represented Oman in Cairo Amman International Bank Symposium Fine Arts in Jordan, in addition to a final distinguished participation in the 19th Asia Art Biennale in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, in December 2022, with the participation of artists from 56 countries.

Moosa Omar’s works are displayed in a number of joint exhibitions in the Arab Gulf states and various others in a number of European countries, the USA, Mexico, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Algeria, Morocco, Taiwan, Lebanon, Australia, South Korea, Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Syria, Bangladesh, and China.
He was a member of the International Federation of Arts affiliated with UNESCO, the Omani Society for Fine Arts Association, and the Youth Studio.
