Muscat – The campaign aims to sustain the hotel sector and maintain its efficiency, in line with the quality requirements that the Ministry is keen to provide to visitors in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. It also aims to reduce malpractices that affect the quality of tourism products and services and the reputation of the sector in general.
Besides, it will enable job seekers to find opportunities, which may not be advertised when establishments practice hotel activity without obtaining the necessary licenses; it will also restrict security and safety abuses that are monitored from time to time in such establishments.
Said Hareb Al Obaidani, Director General of Tourism Development at the Ministry, said the campaign will combat problems of practicing hotel activities randomly and without obtaining a tourism license, which have repercussions on the tourism sector. He also pointed out that there is an increase in such violations and complaints monitored by the ministry.
The campaign also addresses the category of owners of licensed hotel establishments to emphasize the need to maintain high levels of quality of services provided to guests, with the necessity of clearly highlighting the tourism license in hotel establishments and including the tourist license number in electronic marketing platforms such as social media accounts so that it is easier for guests to verify their identity.
The campaign will also focus on the segment of investors or citizens practicing the activity of hotel establishments without obtaining necessary licenses. It highlights the importance of adjusting the conditions of investment activities in accordance with the established laws and regulations.
The Director General of Tourism Development also stressed that the Ministry is continuing to follow up on the owners of unlicensed hotel establishments in coordination and cooperation with the relevant concerned authorities to take all necessary legal measures against those who are proven to be practicing hotel activities without obtaining the necessary licenses from the competent authorities, including the tourism license.
He indicated that those wishing to invest in the tourism sector should take the initiative to reconcile the conditions of their facilities and obtain a tourism license by registering on the electronic services portal on the ministry’s website and applying the special terms and conditions for each category.
