Muscat: In an effort to pave the way towards achieving the national strategy for electronic transformation, the Ministry is reminding everyone to expedite the issuance of birth and death certificates.

The Ministry explained that Oman’s intent to implement development programs and electronic projects with integrated coordination between relevant government agencies to embody the national strategy for electronic transformation is getting affected due to the negligence and delay on the part of concerned citizens and residents in reporting and issuing birth and death certificates.

“Your delay in completing these procedures is a violation of the provisions of Articles 13 and 27 of the Civil Status Law issued by Royal Decree No. 66/99,” the Ministry warned.

The Ministry further called on all citizens and residents who have not reported a birth or death, to do the following:

• Expedite the issuance of a birth or death certificate, by reviewing the institution where the birth or death occurred, even if a long period of time has passed since its occurrence
• Those with whom these cases are registered in the future must obtain a birth or death certificate immediately upon its occurrence, through the communication channels available in the health institutions where the case occurred.
• Update personal data in the national health file, especially the civil number and contact numbers.
The Ministry stated that it had made many arrangements to complete these procedures, by opening channels of communication via e-mail, phone calls, or sending the required documents via the WhatsApp service to these institutions.
